The next day, Kiaruuh thought that because he had given his number for the missionaries, we were done chatting.
Kiaruuh Mnga MmtThursday, July 11, 2013 at 10:46pm CDT
sometimes the promises of god take time to be fulfiled.
i will not let this conversation go and end like that, I will do research, even if it will take decades
in god, one day is like thousand years and vise versa
let us not judge each and give this matter to god and he will sort every thing
I think I understand, did you think that this was the end of chatting, because now the missionaries will call you?
yes
But am curiously waiting a call frm missioneries. hv u given them my number?
I tried calling the missionary office but I can't get a response. I tried all day yesterday. Now it is a weekend so the office would be closed until Monday. I will keep trying
ok, if you contact them, let them call me
I kept trying, and still couldn't reach the missionaries or the mission office with the contact information that I had obtained online. I only mention this to reassure those who are reading, that you might understand that I am a person who is determined to do things the right way, trying everything possible using the pattern set forth for these things.
At the time, I admit I was frustrated. I thought of the urgency and importance of getting the gospel into these peoples' hands, and couldn't see any other reasonable way for it to happen.
But today, I see the beautiful workings of God in the grand pattern. Things would have played out so differently if it had exchanged hands at that point, and many things that the Lord had started, and miracles that had just begun, would not have been realized. I'm so grateful for the Lord's missionaries, and for their closeness to the spirit so that it would all be done according to Him. I hope to someday tell them thank you, and that it happened just the way it was supposed to.
I continued to converse with Kiaruuh, about baptism, ancestry and being baptized for our forefathers, music, and our dress standards. Addressing the dress standards, I gave him a very long, pasted message about modesty in dress (right out of "For the Strength of Youth" pamphlet), and his response after a day was this:
wahuu!!!
it has took me 24hr to read and intepret your messages. i was amazed and i cnt say anything so far
yesterday thr was power failure and i hope today we shall talk more
were u inspired by God to write all those things? where did u got them from? they are true
We also talked about the origin of his church, but I didn’t say much about the origin of the LDS church, because each time I went to lay it out in messages, it felt wrong to piece it together, in this crude, so simple and matter-of-fact way. It simply wouldn’t do justice to the great story of the Restoration, or the joyful Plan of Salvation, without being able to bear testimony in person about the prophet Joseph, using Joseph's own words, and looking Kiaruuh in the eye to tell him that I knew it was true. I realized that I would never be able to fully share the gospel through facebook, because one cannot fully feel of another’s testimony through broken messages. And it is through bearing personal testimony that one feels the truth of the message of the Lord through the Spirit. I knew that someone needed to contact him, and his people, and share the restored gospel with them in person. Attempting to do it through messages would only ruin the opportunity. I looked at other options for phone numbers for the mission office that might work, and I eventually found a small Kenya LDS missionary website which listed a number that, when I called, was ringing (but without any answer), and it was encouraging.
Good news, I have found a different phone number for the mission office of the LDS church in Kenya, and it may be the right one because it finally rang (but didn’t answer probably because it was after business hours). Are you still okay with taking a call from them? They are very nice, always, and there is no obligation.
let them call me now! now! am very ready
While I tried to find another way to call them yet again, Kiaruuh continued to write:
i will also visit them later
but i dnt think whether they (our church members) behave like u becz if it would be like u, i would hv heard about it
am curious to know whether they do all what u hv been telling me but i dnt think so.
africans ignore things
u are different in many ways, ur childn are also different bcz they undergo a tough life as they interact with others at schl.
u also talk politely and argue with facts frm bible, always u talk about praying for others, loving ur family and its like ur childn are most disciplined
when u tell me that, i compare that to what i see here and what my church members undergoes there at home and is almost the same.

One early morning, after days of calling the office with the line now ringing, the Mission President answered! Surprised and a little flustered, I began to introduce myself and rattle off that I knew a person and even some people who were interested in hearing about the gospel, and I had tried for so long to contact the mission office and was so glad that someone finally picked up. In his reply it became apparent that he was very stressed for time (perhaps expecting a different caller at that time) and wasn't able to talk further about everything with me, so I offered to call back at a better time. He said that if I would please call again, he would ignore the rings and the secretary would answer if he was still in, and take my concerns. I called back, and after a dozen rings I knew that the secretary wasn't in, and I was back to not being able to get through. I tried calling again, and thereafter regularly, with no success in anyone answering the ring. I don't believe that the reason for my call even got across. But I do believe that it wasn't meant for it to be so at that time.
It was discouraging to come so close and then back to the drawing board, but, like Kiaruuh, I knew something special and important was coming about, and I wouldn’t “just end it like that; I would research for decades."
So I started in again, considering other possibilities to share gospel information with him. We began to talk about options involving the internet, like videos and photos and downloads. As we talked about technology, I also wondered how much about the rest of the world he had seen and understood. This opened up a mighty conversation, which ended in a miracle to Kiaruuh. (The conversation below continued over several days. I have included the most important/interesting comments)
Have you ever used the Internet? Have you ever seen something on YouTube?
for now i cnt access them but in 3 months to come i will be able
Have you ever done those things in the past?
no
Be prepared, Kiaruuh. The whole world with all of its good and bad is found within the Internet, and Satan uses it to tempt and take so many good people down. It takes great strength to not be weak with such free information.
we are very behind here and we come from bush areas
what is in the internet that can make me to fall down in faith, tell me
It is one of our biggest problems within and outside our church and all other faithful groups too.
I have so much to tell you, Kiaruuh! First I need to know what you already know, with questions. OK?
i know nothing about internet and i need to know what is so bad there
Ok I will tell you all about it. First, have you heard of the Internet, do you know what it is?
i hv heard about it but i think its positive and beneficial to pple (people), its like fb (facebook)
It can be positive, but only if the person is strong. Do you understand that the intent has everything in the world available there? Everything, everything!
everything inclunding what and what?
In case I go off, dnt worry thr is power failure
This will take a lot of time to explain but it is very important to you and also as you teach your future students. You can help them also prepare!
But I don't want to waste time explaining what you already know.
the much i know. in intrnt is fb and loading reading materials e.g. notes. but that is what i hear, i hv never seen it
One more question, have you ever watched a movie or television?
yes, i have watched some movies in television
ok. The Internet is a window to the whole world. You can find photos, videos, movies, and writings of everything there.
Everything, everything, EVERYTHING.....
Anything that interests you, you can see
ANYTHING
it can be good or bad
who has put everything in intnt?
For example, I like to make bread. If I type in the word "bread", there are thousands of types and ways to make bread, by thousands of people who want to share their ideas.
Anyone who has the Internet can share.
With this phone, I can make a movie of my baking class with the boys today, and then share it immediately with the world.
You can imagine what kind of power this ability has, for good and for evil.
You can discover and learn beautiful and amazing things.....
Especially as a teacher, you can learn about any animal, mathematic tutorial, language, history, or people. ANYTHING.
If you see a bird in a tree , and you wonder about it, you only need to describe what you saw, and a list of thousands of photos, pictures, notes, stories, sounds that the bird makes, etc etc will be available instantly
And you will learn the name of the bird, where it lives, how it flies, and thousands of videos of the bird.
If you hear a song on the radio, you only need to type in a few of the words, and the Internet will find the song for you, play it, show you a movie with the song, and all the people who like it will talk about it there
when i go to nairobi next month, i wll study intrnt and practice those things.
who puts those things in intnt?
Everyone who has Internet can share these things freely as they wish. Many lies are also there because the is nobody there to stop them.
I haven't yet told you of the dangers of this kind of information freedom.
then what are the dangers?
is it free to get all this information?
You basically have two ways to use the Internet. One is to type some words, ANY words, into an empty place that will use those words to find thousands, or millions, of things said about those words, in written form. So you read words about what you may find, like a library. Many of the results will be sales places, stores that want to sell you things that are about the words. But many will be people who have written things and thoughts about those words.
Yes, it is all free if you have the computer, and also the Internet, which is a few dollars each month for unlimited use and information.
The second way to use the Internet is to watch movies (videos). Are you ready to hear about this? It may be overwhelming
do u use intnt when sending these messages?
Yes. I use it for fb, in a way I use the same power, but messages not shared with the world openly in the way that I was talking about.
No need to be worried. These are private messages
i think intnt is not confidential, but if yes then u free to tell anything about bcz u hv make me curious and i will study it soon
Some parts of the Internet at very confidential. If people want the information to be private, then it will be. Such as bank account information and private messages and such.
But in other places many sin and want to share their ways with the world... And so now I talk about the dangers of the Internet....
As I was beginning to say, another way to search for information on the Internet is with public video. The big place for this is called YouTube. There, anyone with a video camera (which is found on almost all phones) can put their video out to the whole world immediately. Many, many, many people do this every day! This is all for free. On YouTube I can see people teach me how to sing, or play an instrument. I can see a new baby born. I can see a man kill another man, cutting off his head. I can learn how to make a bomb, and kill many others. I can find very funny things and movies to watch. I can learn about gardening from garden professionals, or learn to speak another language from teachers. I can see a professional baker teach me how to make bread. I can watch old historic movie moments from history many years ago. And the one that is causing many, many good men to fall, is that a woman can undress and do many other sinful things for the world to see, and there is very much of this available. It is a serious problem and a difficult temptation for men because it is too easy.
Is this alarming to you?
it cant
This is a time that a good man or woman must have courage.
And decide firmly what he will do with his choices
A good man uses it for blessing the lives of others, and to share the word of God, which can be a very powerful way to influence the world for good
i wll find out and try to discover all of it bad or good
Do not discover the bad. It can destroy your soul. Only know that it is there, without seeing it.
i hv heard government warning pple about phorno
Was this all something that you already knew, or was it a surprise to you?
I am glad that they warn you. Society here accepts it with only a little caution
i hv seen ths phono in printed materials and actors are white pple why?
here if u can be cought by police with phorno u wll be arested
that might be sign of the end of the world if i might say so
It is addictive, a person cannot stop it without so much help from God for a very long time. It is dangerous.
and how do u do teenangers about it? i know young childn there hv advanced phones. do they watch these things?
do pple there addicted about it? whats so funy on it? if its possing danger we can do away with it
Imagine that u are saved and u know everything about god then u know nothing about satan, u cnt go far b4 satan gets u. u need to know more about satan so that u can deviate frm his traps. u cnt fear or love what u dnt know
i wll just discover, but not doing
Just be prepared...... And keep God's spirit with you at all times
ok
from monday i will be off in fb due to exams
2morw is very important day for me so i need more hours to rest, greet all ur childrn and ur husband
what do u want to tell me b4 i go 4 my final exams, they are very challenging and may be a piece of advice frm u can make big change in my results
say last thing but not the least. u may say somthng last, but may it be of more valuable thn all the rest
(So I left him with some scripture verses from the words of Abindadi)
thax 4 that chapter. nice tyming

so u hv facilitated alot to my performance,
i will remember u with that

That miracle to Kiaruuh was something that made a great impact on his life and his future. He had always put such a great importance on graduation, even in the facebook conversations, because it is key to their family arising from poverty into a new brighter day and future, and graduation meant a bright future for his own future family. His final composition went well, because of that timely miracle, and he was confident now that his future and the future of his family, would be bright.
